Best video camera for creating website and youtube videos.

My last post talked about that most video cameras will work fine for shooting videos for your website. I also mentioned that the sound and lighting is usually the problem for poor website and YouTube videos. I'm still being asked if I had to choose one camera to buy for creating videos for websites what would it be?

Ok, here is my answer. For the average small business owner who wants to start shooting videos I say buy the "Kodak Zi8" pocket video camera. Why I like this camera is because it has a lot of the same features as a professional camera. You can shoot full HD 1080 as well as 720p 60 frames per second which will give you a great slow motion recording. Another must feature is image stabilization. I can't believe most flip cameras don't have image stabilization! What sets this camera above all the rest is it also has a connection to plug in an external microphone. I'll post what kind of microphones to buy in future posts but it's better to buy a camera where business owners can grow into than buy the wrong product and then have to spend the money twice.

Unfortunately they are no longer making the Kodak Zi8. You can still buy it at Amazon but because it was such a unique and valuable camera the demand for the last few available has made the price go up. If you want a simple camera to use but very powerful I'd pick one of these last few up.

Another great thing about this camera is the battery and SD memory card can be removed or replaced. A lot the cameras have internal batteries that can't be removed. If the battery dies in those your camera is dead. The Zi8's battery can be replaced and it just keeps on going. That is why I'm adding it to this blog as my pick for the "Best camera for website video production".

This camera would be a great way to keep your costs down even if you passed the footage along to a professional video company for editing. Just remember to use a tripod for most shooting!

More great cameras and video gear recommendations to come!

What Camera should I buy for creating videos for my website?

What camera should I buy to create good quality video for my website? Answer? ANY! Most modern cameras are fine for video for a website. What most don't know is it's not the camera that makes web videos bad. It's the sound and lighting. We'll also throw in a tripod but that is an easy fix. If your videos are not lit properly and don't have a professional microphone that is what makes a website video bad. Go on YouTube and watch some videos of competitors in your industry. You'll find a lot of videos of people screaming into a camera in their living room telling you how good they are at being a doctor. I don't know about you but if my doctor can't afford to pay a $1000 for a professional video I'm not going to have them look at me. Think about lights in your face to give yourself better color and don't look like a raccoon. Keep the camera close to you and shoot in a quiet room to improve the audio. Always use a tripod!

OR!

Pay for a professional video. Your brochures are not made with magic markers and your website isn't amateur so why would your videos be? Remember if your videos are on YouTube customers may find your video way before they see your website. Who do you think your customers are going to be attracted to? Your professional made web video or the guy yelling in his living room? http://www.swispro.com/

YouTube/Facebook/Twitter/Linkedin the 4 horsemen of SEO

Some might think social media is for kids but what they don't understand is social media is the future and the NOW. The yellow pages don't fit in your back pocket but your smart phone does. I'm sorry to say but print is dying fast or dead already. With smart phones and mobile wireless internet access anyone can do a Google search in seconds. Google even accepts speech so all you have to say is "pizza" and Google does the rest.

So, now you are asking how do I get to be on the first page of Google? The answer is SEO (Search Engine Optimization). What helps create good SEO for your website? VIDEO! A video can be uploaded to YouTube and placed on Facebook and Twitter. Now, if that video has a link back to your website you just created SEO GOLD my friend.

Here is another "what if" What if your video goes viral? Viral means that your video keeps getting forwarded to friend of friends of friends and so on. This is where you become a household name which can be in a matter of hours. WOW!

BUT WAIT! That isn't even the best part! The best part is all this advertising if FREE! Please contact See What I See Productions http://www.swispro.com/ and we'll help you on your way to the future of advertising.
